ABOUT ME

Biography:
Gabriela Selner is a photographer under the name urbannatureby_lisseth. She first became interested in photography after always seeing her mother take pictures of her surroundings, whether it was family photos or the environment around. What started as a small hobby, quickly grew into a passion for capturing small, meaningful moments in everyday life.
Throughout her time at Victor Valley College, Gabriela has focused on developing a style that highlights the connection between nature and urban landscapes. She is particularly drawn to how natural elements survive and thrive in man-made environments.
She believes photography is a way to slow down and appreciate the world around us, even in the busiest places. Her artistic philosophy centers around the idea that beauty can be found everywhere, even in overlooked spaces.
Based in Apple Valley California, Gabriela hopes to continue growing as an artist and plans to share her works through local exhibitions, contests, and online galleries.
My Statement:
In my photography, I’m exploring the relationship between nature and urban spaces. how plants, trees, and natural light show up and survive in places we don't always expect. My goal/wish is to show the viewers the coexistence between urban spaces and nature. This explores the idea that nature still exists within city spaces
Seeing these views, remind me and hopefully the viewer as well, that no matter how much we humans build and expand, nature is and will always be present. A reminder of balance and resilience.
Whether my viewers meet me or not, I hope they will recognize a feeling in these images. Even if we may live in different areas/cities, these small moments that we notice connect us and everyone around.
I like to base my work on contrast and coexistence. How soft natural views interact with the harsh urban textures. I like to frame around that makes nature feel like the main view, not just nature in the background.
I feel like this work relates to today's culture because more people are craving a connection to nature, even in urban environments, myself included. As cities grow and climate issues become more real, finding and appreciating green spaces feel just as important as they should be, if not more. My photos are a reminder that nature is still here watching, adapting, and growing alongside us.
